Electrical Conduit

Time:2024-08-21 Browse: 12

Electrical Conduit comes in different materials, sizes and shapes, such as rigid metal conduit (Rigid), intermediate metal conduit (IMC), electrical metallic tubing (EMT), and PVC conduit. Rigid is the most durable and is typically used in heavy-duty applications, such as outdoor and underground installations. IMC is lighter and easier to install than RMC, while EMT is the lightest and most economical. PVC conduit is a plastic option that is resistant to moisture, chemicals and corrosion.

Conduit is typically installed by electricians, and it must comply with building codes and safety regulations. The conduit may be buried in the ground, mounted on walls or ceilings, or installed in exposed locations. Junction boxes or fittings are used to connect the conduit sections together and to make turns or bends. Once the conduit is in place, the electrical wires can be threaded through it and connected to outlets, switches and other electrical devices.
